The tradition of oil portraiture for the both the family and business has been lost primarily due to the high prices associated with commissioning artists to create individual works. Much of the cost of commissioning a portrait comes from the subject’s time spent sitting for the artist. ArtRoyale’s artists bypass the costly sitting by painting directly from photographs. The quality of today’s photography has advanced to a point where artists can pull intricate, personal detail from a photo. This eliminates the need for a subject to sit for many hours with the artist.
