Portrait Unveiled of Clarence Walker Barron (1855-1928) Founder of Wall Street Journal
Residents of 334 Beacon Street recently gathered with friends in the lobby of their great French chateau styled townhouse at the corner of Beacon and Fairfield Streets in the Back Bay to pay homage to its former owner, Clarence Walker Barron (1855-1928).
Calling Barron the “grandfather of financial journalism,” resident Christopher Toomey then helped a second resident, Sam Wallace, unveil a newly commissioned portrait of the distinguished Boston powerhouse. His legacy is legendary.
Barron founded the Boston News Bureau, the Philadelphia News Bureau, published the Wall Street Journal and then went on to found Barron’s Business and Financial Weekly. His portrait, created by ArtRoyale, will hang in the lobby for all to enjoy.
